Temple B’nai Abraham’s Preschool, The Early School, is located in Livingston, NJ and will be celebrating the start of its 50th year this September! We are currently seeking a Principal of the preschool.
We are looking for an innovator and collaborator, who has a desire to help grow a program that is based in providing a developmentally appropriate learning environment which allows every child to thrive.
The Principal is responsible for ensuring our students receive a high quality academic, social and emotional, and Jewish education.
Requirements for applicant:
• Early Childhood Administration Credential Certificate, PK-3or ability to receive within 3 months of hiring
• Bachelor Degree Required. Master in Early Childhood Education, Jewish Education, or Related Field Preferred
• Preschool teaching experience
The ideal candidate will have:

• Outstanding organizational and communication skills
• Understanding and comfort level with current technology trends used in schools, parent communication, and recruitment
• A commitment to fostering a warm and supportive environment for staff and families
• A love of being part of a robust, fast paced and creative team
• A Jewish background preferred but not required
Principal’s responsibilities include:
• Directing all programs of the preschool, incorporating the school philosophy in the development of lesson plans, progress reports, daily schedules, curriculum, and assessment of students
• Partnering with the Director of Jewish Education, Director of Early Childhood Education and Board of Education Chairs and Committee
• Leading the recruitment and registration process to achieve optimum enrollment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to articulate to enrolled and prospective families the importance of early childhood education and the school’s philosophy
• Planning, scheduling, and supervising the summer camp programs
• Together with Executive Director and Controller, overseeing the finances of the school including creating and working within a budget to manage tuition, payroll, professional development, academic and social programming, and facilities maintenance.
• Managing all preschool staff, including hiring, evaluation, orientation, salaries, supervision, and termination
• Working closely with the preschool’s Board of Education to create and implement policy in accordance with licensing requirements and the school’s mission statement
• Maintaining a close working relationship with leadership of Temple B’nai Abraham to develop programming for the students, develop Judaic training for the teachers, and coordinate community events to foster close ties between the school and congregation
• Maintaining professional activities and related professional memberships, keeping abreast of research and new developments in the field of Early Childhood Education
• Maintaining active involvement with school, counselors, and relevant agencies within the community
• Ensuring ongoing easy and accessible written communication (such as email, apps, etc.) to families about what is happening in the school on a regular basis
• Remaining accessible and responsive to parents and students
• Manage day-to-day operations of the preschool, including staff supervision, curriculum development, and parent communication.
• Manage, in coordination with Director of Early Childhood Education, all employee and student files in compliance with state licensing regulations.
• Conduct annual center promotional events, including open house events, information sessions, and tours with prospective families and students.
• Document daily operation logs and conduct monthly classroom meetings.
• Develop weekly curricular themes or topics of focus, and plan monthly calendar and family newsletters based on the curriculum.
• Focus on new enrollments and successful enrollment expansion, facility tours, and marketing.
• Website content development and maintenance; other promotion and advertisement as needed.
